RNOW 6-month chart
Buy
9 January 2009. I decided to dip a toe back into individual stocks again. Right now, I'll start with RightNow. RNOW turned up in one of my screens and is clearly recovering from a low last October. The chart is forming one of those nice symmetrical triangles that often signals precedes a breakout (or, alas, a breakdown). I'm buying below the one-month average and above the 50-day moving average.
- Percentage price oscillator (PPO) — rising sharply since October; touching up with the signal line due to decline from latest peak
- Volume — lighter than I would normally like and falling
Based on technical analysis, MarketEdge calls RNOW a "strong buy" in a "weak upward trend."

10 February 2009. What a difference 6¢ makes! RightNow had been on the path RightDown until they surprised the market with earnings 6¢ above Expectations. AboutFace! The Surprise propelled shares of RNOW up more than $1 in a single day, and up another $1 in the following days. When its fortunes dimmed this morning, I bailed in order to lock in a tidy 9% profit, about $3 above the most recent low, even though I left more than $600 on the table from today's high.
