I lost a bit trying to short DTPI, so now I'll try to make up for it by going long. Since plunging in March DTPI has moved up, just above the 200-day moving average and got a boost in early May by exceeding Expectations by a penny. Since then it has been sitting just around $13 for a month. In the last two days buying has picked up a bit, so we'll see if this is going to be the breakout.

  • Price momentum (PPO) — positive, stable for past three weeks
  • Relative strength (RSI) — just above neutral
  • Trend (ADX) — as selling pressure (-DI) dropped since March, the trend (ADX) has weakened, but buying (+DI) now seems ready to pick up
  • Volume — three weeks of on-average volume

Based on technical analysis, MarketEdge calls DTPI a "strong buy" in a "weak upward trend."

loss Bottom line

Right after I bought DTPI it jumped to more than a dollar above my purchase price. It was too much of a good thing. Since then it has been steadily moving downward, with each successive session's high lower than the previous one. After it touched up with the 200-day moving average, I had hopes that the slide would reverse, but today DTPI has gone only one direction from the open — down. I decided to bail out with a loss just under $1 per share.

What looked like a fall and quick recovery in March now looks more like a fall with a bounce.
