Gold rush cocktail

These will have your guests asking, "What's in these?" The secret is  honey syrup instead of simple syrup. For a crowd, simply double or triple the amounts.

Do ahead: The cocktails can be mixed in a pitcher and refrigerated, leaving only the shaking and pouring.

Time needed: 10 minutes

Servings: 4

  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup water

Combine in a small sauce pan and bring just to a simmer to mix thoroughly. Cool completely.

  • 1 cup bourbon (Maker's Mark)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup honey syrup (above)
  • 4 sprigs fresh mint, for garnish

Combine in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake then strain into glasses over ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint.
