April 6, 2010 | Sunday being Easter, the Brunch Bunch opted to forgo a restaurant and convene Chez Paul. As usual, it would be pot luck.
Sometimes our brunches do go on … and on …. This one went on well into the afternoon, so long in fact that we were all still sitting around the table enjoying our last bottle of champagne when the shaking from Sunday's 7.2 earthquake in Baja California hit.
Phil, ever cautious, strolled out onto the patio and out from under the roof, trying to look nonchalant, but not succeeding very well
Ken, after a bit of hesitation, sought refuge under the dining room table
Réal, experiencing his first sustained earthquake since becoming a Californian, clapped his hands with glee
Bob and I watched the others with amusement
The shaking wasn't particularly violent, but it lasted a long time — some of us think it was about 30 seconds, others think it was an eternity.
