Canyon Lanes Brand spanking new alleys at Canyon Lanes

Bowling season opens

New league, new lanes

Last Monday night was opening night for the new Up Your Average bowling league, playing at Canyon Lanes at Casino Morongo in Cabazon. Casino Morongo moved into a new high-rise building several years ago, and the bowling alley and a bingo parlor now share the renovated old casino building.

Up Your Average is a spin-off from the Fun Handicap League in Palm Springs. Apart from being fully subscribed, the Fun Handicap League doesn't always live up to its name: many of the bowlers are dead serious and the season is very long (30+ weeks). Some of us really like to bowl just for fun, and the new league is perfect; instead of a long winter season and a short summer season, they have divided the year into three equal seasons of 15 weeks. Perfect!

Réal decided he did not want to bowl this winter — he needs a break from three years of bowling, and his back needs time to heal. Ken, Bob, and I decided to bowl just the fall trimester of the new league, take the winter off, and then pick up again with the third trimester. We picked up a fourth bowler, Ozzie, the first night.

Ken brought his camera along and took a number of short videos; I edited them together. Enjoy!

I'm just learning how to embed videos in the page. If you don't see anything below, or if it doesn't work, the sidebar has alternate ways to get the video in either Windows or QuickTime format.
