  • 8 slices bacon

Cut bacon crosswise into thin strips

Saute over medium heat in a large, heavy skillet.

  • 2 cups finely diced Spanish onion
  • 2 large cloves garlic, minced

Add to bacon and cook until onion becomes translucent, not browned

  • Bacon-onion-garlic mixture from above
  • 1 28oz can Bush's Best Baked Beans (Country style, or whatever you prefer)
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp powedered mustard
  • 1 Tbsp ground mild red chile

Transfer the bacon-onion-garlic mixture, and any accumulated fat, into a large mixing bowl.

Add the remaining ingredients and combine well.

Pour into an ungreased baking dish and bake uncovered at 325°:F for 2½ to 3 hours
