Blossoms of the red yucca

A lovely surprise in the backyard

| Last year when several agave parryi plants died, I replaced them with red yuccas.

The yuccas pretty much just hung out in the backyard and didn't do anything.

This spring the yuccas have been positively exhuberant. Their blossoms are on stalks now four feet tall. Unopened blossoms are tightly clustered at the ends of the stalks, while ones lower down have opened to reveal show six cream-colored, waxy petals. They are truly beautiful.

The desert has so many treasures to share!
