baby rabbit hiding in sage

I see you!

| This morning I was in the back yard doing a bit of work and decided that I would trim the sage plant in the herb garden; it was in full bloom and invading the space for other herbs.

With my left hand I gathered up a bouquet of blossoms and snipped them off with the shears in my right hand. After just a couple of minutes work, a sizeable stack of sage was harvested.

I gathered up one more clump and was about to snip when I noticed that something brown and furry was right under my hand. A wee baby rabbit was secreted in amongst the sage. Its tiny little ears were laid back flat against its head and it was only by looking closely that one could see that it was breathing, its little sides puffing in and out with each breath.

Scared the bejeezus out of me at first since I was not expecting to encounter wildlife in the herb garden. I went and got my camera—it was still there but had tucked itself even deeper into the foliage.

If you look closely you can see an eye peeking through the sage in the photo.
