Banish the dark

| It's that time of year when the light begins to fail at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, and, although it seems quite silly and extravagant, you think about turning on the lights. It's also time for the annual Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade, for which organizations, businesses, and people drape themselves in as many battery-powered lights as possible and parade the length of Palm Canyon Drive.

The parade is always pretty much the same. I mean, how many ways can you cover a fire engine with lightbulbs? Nevertheless, there were some new entrants this year, and one glaring absence! The dancing tractor was not in the parade — at least by the time it got to us, near the end of the route.
