At two weeks

| Kids — they grow up so fast!

The baby hummingbirds are about two weeks old now, which must be teenage in human years. They sit there in the nest with their beaks straight up in the air, waiting, I suppose, for meals on wings to arrive.

The other day I saw one of them stand up and flutter its wings for a moment, but it soon hunkered back down to safety in the nest.

This morning I decided it was time for another peek into the nest, using the hold-a-mirror-over-the-nest-and-photograph-the-mirror technique.

Side by side, eyes wide open — Hey, man, where's the food?

I just hope I happen to be watching when they make their first flight.
