'Twas the night before Christmas

And the gentlemen were merry

'Tis the time of overeating,
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la!
Showing restraint would be cheating,
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la!

Fill we now our plates too high,
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la!
In the morn' the scale won't lie,
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la!

Christmas at its best is a time of joy, when bright lights drive back the night and those of a Christian persuasion celebrate the alleged birth of a so-called Savior. Others just celebrate!

Réal decided to host a Christmas eve get-together at his place, which he decorates to the max. His neighbors must surely refer to "that condo" and make pilgrimmages to admire the splendor.

As usual, there was way too much food. So what else is new?

Next come the obligatory pictures of people eating.

Tomorrow, Christmas day, is round two at Phil's. Jenny Craig, where are you?

The next day

Phil volunteered to have Christmas dinner at his place and, in an act of exceptional bravery, decided to roast his first-ever turkey. Of course, we were all only too happy to coach him in the finer points — when to buy it, when to take it out of the freezer and put it in the refrigerator to thaw, what to put in the turkey, when to put the turkey in the oven, how long it would take to roast, when to uncover it, and on and on. Naturally, Phil being Phil, he listened appreciatively then ignored or forgot most of what we told him.

When we arrived, we found Phil hovering near the oven, bending down to peer inside over and over again. Surprise, surprise — the turkey was still there, every time!

Eventually the turkey was taken out and pronounced done.

We also had enormous fun when Phil, after much prodding, brought out his new camera to take a few pictures. Astonishingly, the camera — purchased on November 4th after a great deal of chivvying about his constant procrastination over the purchase — was still in the box! One thing about Phil: he marches to his own drummer on his own timeline!
