Living proof

MRI image

Darwin was right

I am living proof of Darwin's theory, having evolved from being a pain in the neck to having a pain in the neck.

Actually, the pain is in my left arm and shoulder, but its cause appears to be in my neck. X-rays showed "spurs" on some of the vertebrae, and some of them are abnormally close together, raising questions about the disks in between them.

I had an MRI this week, and it was quite an experience. I knew, in general, what an MRI machine looks like, but I was surprised at how much noise it made and confining it really felt. It was also a surprise that it took about half an hour and resulted in so many images. Of course I looked at them (they gave me a set), but I have no idea what I was looking at. With luck, they will be more meaningful to my doctors.
