I would like to thank

It's an honor just to be nominated

The International Association of Web Masters and Designers announced today that "Chez Paul has been reviewed and chosen to bear the 2003-2004 Golden Web Award."

congratulations

They like me! They really like me!

I don't know what to say! Omigawd!

It's just such an honor to be nominated!

Ok. I'd like to thank—

Omigawd, I don't even know where to start!

I'd like to thank — let's see now — ok — my dog Jack, and my third grade teacher Miss Hiniker (of course, this was back before "Ms" was invented), and — and my people! — omigawd how could I almost forget my people?!

And I'd like to thank The Association and all those who voted for me, and —

It means so much to me.

Oh, my fans! I'd like to thank my fans! It's my fans that make it all worthwhile: the blisters on the ends of my fingers, the pain of carpal tunnel, the waiting for pages to upload, the— Yes, if I can make just one fan's day a little brighter, it's all worthwhile! ; I do it all for you!

Enough already! This all began about nine days ago when I received the following email message:

Thank you for submitting your site to the World Famous Golden Web Awards. Due to this being a FREE service provided by the International Association of Web Masters and Designers, we receive many thousands of submissions on a regular basis. All entries are reviewed by the Voluntary Voting Committee (consisting of members of the association) in the order in which they are received. You will be notified as to your results at that time. We estimate the notification process to take 7-14 days at this time.

Thank You,
GoldenWebAwards.com

Let me make one thing perfectly clear: I did not submit my site. I accused my friend Jim of doing so, always a safe guess, but he denies all culpability in the matter.

Besides the honor of displaying the award logo, a plethora of possibilities are opened to me:

  • Register my site in the 2003-2004 Who's Who on the Web directory — at 25% off
  • Purchase a certificate, suitable for framing — only $19.95
  • Apply for membership in the I.A.W.M.D — only $39.95
  • Submit my website to "FIFTY (50)" pay-per-click search engines — only $39.95

This is all such hokum, but of course I shall proudly display the award logo! Because they want me to display the logo by linking to their graphic (rather than having my own copy) I'm sure there is going to be some follow-up based on number of hits it generates. I'll play along, just to see what happens.

In fact, I may start a collection of awards.
